Aligning Chemical Kinematics with Environmental Mandates to Power Modern Heat Pumps & Air Conditioning Infrastructure.
The global heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) market is undergoing a seismic regulatory and chemical shift. With international mandates like the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol and Europe’s updated F-Gas regulations, the industry is transitioning rapidly away from high-Global Warming Potential (GWP) Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) like R-410A towards eco-friendly alternatives. These alternatives include Hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs like R-1234yf and R-1234ze), low-GWP blends (such as R-32, R-454B), and natural refrigerants (such as Carbon Dioxide/R-744, Ammonia/R-717, and Isobutane/R-600a). This chemical revolution demands a parallel evolution in AC compressor lubrication technology.
Without the correct oil chemistry, modern AC compressors suffer from accelerated wear, acid formation, copper plating, and drastic drops in heat transfer efficiency. Synthetic lubricants must be customized to provide precise miscibility and solubility profiles across a wide temperature spectrum. Polyol Esters (POE), Polyalkylene Glycols (PAG), and Polyvinyl Ethers (PVE) are engineered at the molecular level to interact harmoniously with polar refrigerants, ensuring effective oil return from the evaporator back to the compressor dome, preventing premature bearing failure, and sustaining critical system efficiency.
Specifically formulated POE and PAG lubricants exhibiting targeted miscibility with R-1234yf and R-1234ze, maintaining robust lubricating film under extreme pressures.
Ultra-low moisture polyol ester formulations engineered for CO2 (R-744) subcritical and transcritical systems, preventing hydrolysis and oil film wash-out.
Highly stable lubricants designed to support transition refrigerants like R-454B and R-32, offering long life spans and low volatility properties.

Addressing the challenges of thermal management and energy efficiency in high-load commercial compressor operations.
In modern industrial applications, AC compressors operate under severe thermal and mechanical stresses. Commercial HVAC systems in data centers, food logistics cold chains, shopping malls, and industrial process chilling loops run continuously. Synthetic oils must maintain low viscosity limits to minimize frictional energy losses while retaining sufficient high-temperature kinematic viscosity to ensure hydrodynamic lubrication of compressor bearings, scrolls, and screws.
Shandong Longhai's synthetic PAG and POE oils are formulated to tackle critical issues like low critical solution temperature (CST) and high moisture absorption. By optimizing base oil purity and utilizing specific anti-wear (AW) and extreme pressure (EP) additive packages, our lubricants protect compressors against chemical breakdown and mechanical wear under extreme loads, saving operators millions in downtime and premature system replacements.
Our lubricants are engineered to resist chemical breakdown and sludge formation at discharge temperatures exceeding 150°C, ensuring clean internal compressor components.
Proper miscibility profiles prevent the oil from trapping in the cold evaporator coils, securing a continuous oil supply back to the compressor sump.
Advanced chemical engineering limits POE ester breakdown in the presence of trace moisture, eliminating acid-related motor winding corrosion.
Enhanced oxidation resistance extends oil replacement intervals by up to 300% compared to standard mineral lubricants, reducing maintenance overheads.
Translating client specifications into highly reliable synthetic formulations.
We craft fully synthetic and semi-synthetic lubricant recipes tailored to specific vehicle and industrial machinery requirements, climate zones, or target market positions. Our formulations meet and exceed major international criteria, including API, ACEA, and specific OEM builder approval programs.

Answering common engineering questions on synthetic lubricant selection, compatibility, and maintenance.
Miscibility determines how well the lubricant dissolves in the liquid refrigerant. As refrigerant flows, it carries small amounts of oil out of the compressor. If the oil is not miscible, it will pool in the evaporator coils, forming a thick coating that reduces heat transfer and starves the compressor of oil. Synthetic POE and PAG lubricants are specifically engineered to remain miscible at low evaporator temperatures, securing clean fluid returns.
Mineral oil is non-polar and does not mix with polar HFC or HFO refrigerants. Polyol Esters (POE) are polar, highly thermal-stable synthetic lubricants commonly used in stationary commercial refrigeration. Polyalkylene Glycols (PAG) are highly polar and hygroscopic, making them ideal for automotive AC systems. PVE (Polyvinyl Ether) offers high hydrolytic stability, meaning it doesn't break down into acid when exposed to trace water, unlike POE.
Synthetic lubricants, especially POE and PAG, are highly hygroscopic, meaning they absorb moisture from air. Shandong Longhai uses nitrogen blanketing during our automated filling and packaging steps. This maintains water levels under 50 ppm in our sealed drums and bottles, preventing hydrolysis, acid formation, and compressor damage.
Mixing different lubricant types (like mineral oil and POE, or PAG and POE) is strongly discouraged. It can alter miscibility, thin the lubrication film, and lead to additive separation. Always check original equipment manufacturer guidelines and use the specified viscosity grade (e.g., ISO VG 32, 46, 68) for your application.
Distributors can customize viscosity index values, low-temperature pour points, anti-foaming properties, and packaging sizes. We provide comprehensive OEM/ODM services, including specialized brand label design, packaging sizes ranging from 1L cans to 1000L IBC tanks, and international shipping documentation.
